Frequently Asked Questions:

Can my doctor text me?

Yes, your doctor can text you. It’s their responsibility to secure all the information they store and transmit with a HIPAA compliant software like Rhinogram. It’s also their responsibility to ask how you’d like to receive communications and record your preference. If you don’t want to be texted, simply tell the practice!

Why should I text with my doctor?

Texting is all about convenience for you and quickly getting you the care you need. Texting your doctor allows you to quickly schedule appointments, ask questions about your care, send and receive images and files all without having to wait on hold or login to a portal.  So, next time you need to get in contact with your doctor, text them first! You’ll be surprised how quick and easy it is.

Is text messaging secure?

Just like phone calls and regular email, text messaging isn’t encrypted. Rhinogram encrypts all the communication your physician sends and stores in a cloud based platform, but once the messages make it to your phone, they aren’t inherently secure. Techniques like encrypting your phone can help to secure information exchanged via text message.

How do I encrypt my cell phone?

Encrypting your phone is an added layer of protection you can implement in addition to your login credentials.

Encrypt your iPhone - Navigate to Settings and select Touch ID & Passcode. There you will be able to Turn on Touch ID and enroll up to 5 finger prints. Enabling a fingerprint login for your phone Passcode, will effectively encrypt your phone and anyone looking to gain access to your device will need to have a registered fingerprint.

Encrypt your Android - First you’ll need to make sure you’ve set a lock screen PIN, pattern or password. Then, navigate to your device’s Settings and select Lock Screen & Security. Under “Encryption.”Once here, you’ll have the ability to add a fingerprint for login if your device supports it, encrypt your SD card and make other security adjustments.
